Please take a moment to read about our Adoption Process below and if you're ready, fill out our Adoption Application.
To meet one of our adoptable dogs, please contact us. Meetings must be scheduled in advance as all dogs are in foster homes and this requires time to coordinate.
All pups adopted from us receive free lifetime training assistance! Once a Hard Knocker - always a Hard Knocker!
Apollo is has had a rough go. Prior to coming to us, he had spent his entire life outside in a small fenced area with little to no human interaction. Apollo is adjusting to being an inside dog well but still needs some work on his potty training. He is good with cats and children but he does need work on his manners too may accidentally knock kids down. He is a loving boy who enjoys working his nose sniffing around!
Axel is a handsome boy with puppy brain and puppy energy! He is a sweet boy with a great disposition but does have separation anxiety, which we are currently working through. Axel is good with older children only and is selective about other dogs and must be appropriately introduced. If introduced correctly, seems interested in cats but has not yet had an off-leash interaction. Axel needs someone who will be dedicated to his training needs so he can grow into the bestest boy!
Beau is sweet, shy boy who is almost 1 year old and is a mix of Spaniel, Shih Tzu, and Poodle! This lovely boy was kept outside until he came to us in June this year and does need potty training. Beau is doing great on his crate training and does well with other dogs and cats and kids. It is preferred that he be in a household with at least one other dog to help teach him that humans are ok! Beau is not a shedder, loves to be dirty and loves cheese!
Melvin is quirky guy who can be the most lovable boy one second to a cranky old man the next! He does not like petting or cuddles unless it is his idea and he really needs someone to watch for his cues and respect his boundaries as he does have a bite history. If Melvin is sleeping, he needs to be left alone and while he does well with kids and cats and other dogs, he would prefer to be the only dog in the house.
Scoots came to us with a past riddled with neglect and abuse. He is just now learning what its like to be a member of a family. Scoots adores people but would thrive in a home with no other pets. He is such a goofy boy and knows how to use those puppy eyes on you when you something good to eat! Scoots is the perfect sofa snuggle buddy and only wants his own family to love.
Mika is not an HKRT rescue dog. This is a courtesy post.
If you're looking for a velcro dog who wants to be glued to you - Mika is your girl! She's small in size and athletic, full of energy and sweetness. Mika is good with kids, non-reactive to cats, and gets along with other dogs (male and female) but would be best as an "only dog child" as she wants all the love there is to give! She is house trained, is not "barky", loves playing ball and running around (would be great for an active person or family). Mika knows basic commands and is motivated to please her person. She is up-to-date on her vaccinations, heartworm negative, spayed and microchipped!
Wrigley is not an HKRT rescue dog but is a School of Hard Knocks alumni! Through absolutely no fault of his own, his owners are having to find Wrigley a new home due to human medical issues that make caring for him very difficult.
Wrigley is full of personality and can be quite the talker too! He is good with kids, cats, and other dogs, is fully vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. Wrigley is not crate trained but is well-behaved when left to roam the house freely. He loves car rides, hiking, and playing in the creek and is very affectionate. Wrigley is on a special diet for dogs with sensitive stomachs but is priced similar to most dog foods.
